I also had the same error 3241 with SQL, but after stopping the restore it disappeared, thanks.

I was having some what similar issue and I solved it.  I was trying restore with SQL Server 2008 DB.

I have documented each step, which help me to resolve this problem.

I am getting this error as well. Confirmed both versions, and they are 10.0.1600, but noticed the remote server is x64. So you cannot restore a DB from an X64 server onto an x86 server, even if both are sql2008?

I'm still getting the message even though im not restoring the backup from 2008. What else can i do?
